Our filter has Carbon and Ion exchange beads inside, as a team they are great at softening water. Our filter does however add in some essential electrolyte minerals for hydration meaning you might still get a build up in the kettle after time if you boil the water. For super hard water, we would recommend our 'Clean Pack' which adds no additional minerals to water.
